a long road

We're in the middle of an incredible experience here in Hiroshima. It's very different from the last time I was here--when I came alone, a year ago, to experience things myself. What he said about the Soviet Union is kind of true. Russia played a big role in bringing down Germany, and so they got a chunk out of it when it was all partitioned between the victors. And when Germany was done with, Stalin started gearing up to slam into Japan, so the US wanted to end it quickly not just to avoid an amazingly costly invasion, but to keep Russia out of the party with the postwar spoils

Of course you're a real friend. I'm not suggesting that I don't have enough real friends, or that I need more or anything... just that I'm much more interested in real friendships than in more acquaintances.

I don't choose my friends based on where they live. I consider myself lucky that I have real friends in several countries, and acquaintances around the world. I think I know what you're talking about when you refer to my "aggressive manner," but I think the biggest issue with my making friends, at this point, is time management, and spreading myself too thin, and my lack of interest in artificial conversation.

What time off are you referring to? I already bought the ticket, I'm still coming down to visit the first weekend in September, right?
