My friend John over at
Mind on Fire is doing a group creativity experiment, so while I was collecting data at the lab I wrote a poem for today's theme, the Tarot Card
Knight of Swords. (I wasn't sure whether "despite" scanned/rhymed with "delight" or "petsit" so I went with the former)
My Reason's roots reside within my glance.
To know the world I must behold aright,
So logic thrives in sunny circumstance,
And in despite of daily-circling night,
I can see truth by incandescent light.
My books, my future, even those most dear:
Reduced to facts and figures by my sight,
With proper vision their import is clear.
Enveloped in the dark I feel the sheer
Immensity of life, reducing me
To mystery in my own eyes; I hear
A song, a howl, a new philosophy.
While lit, my mind's a reason-able place;
Its shadows hide from sight both fear and grace.
