Books that I am looking forward to coming out

Jul 21, 2010 08:48

So I was looking at Goodreads and thinking about anticipation, and how a new book that comes out gets read immediately in front of the long long queue of existing books I want to get to. Here are books I am looking forward to:

This YearMockingjay, Suzanne Collins - August 24th ( Read more... )

You're welcome! (I presume you are thanking me for the Seanan/Mira recs?)

Yes. Between the two that is half of the books on this list.

Mockingjay, yes please. And LOL at Dance of Dragons. Maybe we will get it when we're 90, if at all, am I right?

I don't read many other ongoing series, to be honest. I would say I'm looking forward to the next Diana Gabaldon book, but she and I are in a fight and I still haven't finished her last one.

So soon!

Indeed, maybe by then they will figure out how to reanimate the dead and Martin will have figured out how to end the book in the afterlife.

I don't read many other ongoing series, to be honest.

It is probably a lot more freeing not to. Then you are not a slave to waiting for the next book.

Sigh. I am still looking forward to it even though he may die before ever producing another book.

A Dance with Dragons, George R.R. Martin - Probably Never

XD I'm not holding my breath but I'm hoping we'll at least get ADWD if not, you know, the actual conclusion... *sigh*

I'm with you on the Dresden Files ones, of course, and ASOIAF. Also, I was definitely anticipating Tongues of Serpents, but that's out now and I haven't read it yet. When I do get my hands on it, it's definitely going to the top of the queue. Ditto for CryoBurn, the latest Miles Vorkosigan book (late this year). Oh, and Discworld anything, which I suppose at this point means I Shall Wear Midnight (September).

Yeah. I am really hoping that at least that one comes out eventually, but given the current pace I feel fairly pessimistic about the series getting finished.

I really enjoy getting to use the bookstore as a library, it means when new books come out I don't have to be on a waitlist to get them.

So... I just got my hands on an advanced copy of Cryoburn and since I still haven't even actually started reading the copy of the first Vorkosigan book I picked up, I was wondering if you wanted to indefinitely borrow it. I don't know what your schedule looks like but I will be in the bay a week from today.

Do I ever! How awesome of you to offer! :D (And I'm also very happy to hear that you have decided to give the Vorkosigan Saga a try, eventually :) I hope you end up liking it as much as I do!)

Logistics might be a little tough, depending on when/where, but I'm definitely game to try and make it work! Where in the Bay Area are you going to be, and what's your schedule going to be like? (Or if you'd prefer to take it to email, hamsterwoman78 at yahoo dot com)

(Cryoburn aside, it would also be just cool to meet you! And if we are able to meet, would love to express my appreciation with lunch or coffee or something, if timing works out. :)

EE!! to Mockingjay and everything by Jim Butcher (I love reading series where the author actually puts stuff out at a fairly regular basis). Been meaning to read Rosemary and Rue for a while. Heh, and I'm still reading a Game of Thrones, because that's my fear, that I will love the series. then Martin will die.

Heh, its a funny story about how I first read the Hunger Games. It was on a list of books we could use for a project in one of my classes (literature for jr/sr high school, that list had a bunch of great books on it- its become like a to read list for me) and I looked up the summary and really wanted to read it, but my best friend in the class got it before me (only could be one person per book. So I had to read it on my own, and DEVOURED it. Catching Fire came out like a week later, and I actually skipped class to sit in Borders and read it.
