"The Girl Next to Me on the Plane"
is actually a woman;
she has informed me that she has two children,
who she needs to get home to
so they can be delivered to school in the morning.
This is too bad, really.
I misread her bright blue eyes,
her long red hair,
her soft black and red sweater
and chick-lit novel
as signs that she was closer to my age,
and I am only mildly ashamed to say
that she appeals to several of my darker instincts.
Unfortunately, the silver ring on her finger
and children waiting on the ground
are not particularly conducive to the diversions
of inflight sexual fantasies.
Darn.
