"Penelope"
The days since you left for Troy
My love I have lost count
And the days until you return
Are much the same amount
I hear the stories from the bards
Of your thousand glory-deeds
And none of them mean too much
For you are not here with me
I see your face in paintings bold
And hear your name in rhyme
And while you my love may strive with gods
Here I must strive with time
Ulysses far across the sea,
remember please Penelope-
Fight your monsters, sail your seas
Bring whole cities to their knees
Sail the whole wide world around
Soon you must be Ithaca bound
Your house is plagued with suitors
Who gather in the hall
And they say that they will have me
And can I resist them all?
Your wine now they have all drunk
Your cattle slaughtered too
And in my room I watch the sea
In hopes of seeing you
By the many glorious gods
who unlike men will never die
I know I cannot forget you
For you I have to try-
Ulysses far across the sea,
remember please Penelope-
Fight your monsters, sail your seas
Bring whole cities to their knees
Sail the whole wide world around
Soon you must be Ithaca bound
(x2)
I see your face in paintings bold
And hear your name in rhyme
And while you my love may strive with gods
Here I must strive with time
