Song for Kali

Nov 11, 2002 15:56

After reading Kali's journal today, I just... I don't know. This spilled out of me a minute ago. It isn't polished, and it isn't meant to be. But right now, I think my prose is failing my heart, and so maybe what little poetic skill I have can say it better than I can.

God, kid, I hope you feel better when I see you next.

Man, Kali, what can I say,
Think about you every night and day
Hoping you don’t decide to end it all
Hoping you won’t try to take the fall

Man, Kali, I don’t even know
I didn’t know you could move me so
Hoping you realize that it’ll all be okay
Hoping you’ll want to live another day

Man, Kali, what can I say
Think about you every night and day
Hoping you decide it isn’t time to die
Hoping I won’t remember what it’s like to cry

Man, Kali, do you even know
Didn’t know you could move me so
Hoping you’ll keep wanting to stand up and fiht
Hoping you’ll make it through the night

Today’s the day you’ll go away
I don’t even know what to say
All I guess I can do is pray
That you’re going to be okay

Man, Kali, what can I say
Think about you every night and day
Hoping you’ll realize it’ll all be okay
Hoping you’ll want to live another day
