Song: "Desperate"

Jan 11, 2005 15:17

I just wrote this about a minute ago. It was very odd; it came more naturally than any song has in a very long time. It's about the same sorts of things that my current project, "Raining in January," is about, and I suspect the two are highly connected. Anyway, when I get back to Kirksville I'll see about writing a guitar part for it.

Also, for anybody who is interested, I've gone back through the journal and indexed pretty much everything in it that has to do with fiction and/or thoughts about writing. All stories, poems, and songs (and anything I wrote about the process of writing them) have been indexed. Fiction is listed under "Fiction" and by the title of work, and Poetry and Songs are filed under their respective categories. All writings about writing itself have been catalogued under "Writing." -E

"Desperate"

I’m dreaming of alleys
Meeting under a bridge in the dark
I dream of you and only you
And your touch fanning a spark

I’m dreaming of buildings
Putting the gear into park
I dream of you and only you
Your feet carry you into the dark

And then I wake up
And then I don’t know
And then I wake up
And then I know for sure

I don’t think you know
I don’t think you know
I don’t think you know
How desperate I’ve become

I’m dreaming of cities
Walking alone on a lark
I dream of you and only you
Meeting me in the park

I’m dreaming of memories
The gleam in your eye so stark
I dream of you and only you
Kissing me on a lark

And then I wake up
And then I don’t know
And then I wake up
And then I know for sure

I don’t think you know
I don’t think you know
I don’t think you know
How desperate I’ve become

I’m dreaming
I’m dreaming
I’m dreaming
I guess it’s all I’ve ever done
