Daniel nodded as Logan asked him about seeing what happened to his parents. "Uh huh...it was an accident, that's what they said, I yelled at 'em, but they didn't get out of the way, and then someone grabbed me, and wouldn't let me go to 'em" The child's voice grew more desperate as the emotions started to consume him again.

"I tried to make them get out of the way...but they didn't."

Keeping his pressure on the boy's back firm and consistent, Logan tried to comfort him.

"When things like that happen, they happen very quickly. You know you're not to blame for what happened though right?"

"No." Daniel shook his head emphatically. "Maybe I could've made 'em get out of the way before the stone fell. They should of let let me go."

Even as he said it, Daniel knew that it would have already been too late, he'd seen the stone fall, he'd heard the screams of his parents as they realized what was happening. He'd heard the warning from his mother telling him to stay back, if he had been with them, he too would have been dead. Was that really what he wanted? The thought was enough to prompt a fresh onslaught of tears that he tried to hide in his sleeve.

"When my Dad died, I thought the same but you gotta know that you can't beat yourself up over it. It was there time and while I'm sure your Mom and Dad would love to be with you here and now, I also know that they want you to be happy and not to blame yourself for what happened."

As the tears started to fall, Logan came closer to the boy and wrapped his arm fully around him in a hug. He didn't know if it would be accepted, but he had to try.
