Some thoughts on the Iron Man 3 trailer/movie...
Ok, first off, I wasn’t really thrilled when I heard they were using the Extremis storyline for the third movie. I feel like Tony just got beat up in the last movie, his heath failing him (his body being poisoned because of the arc reactor, and indirectly, suit). To me, using this storyline where he becomes even more obsessed with his body/suit (I haven’t read the Extremis storyline, just know of it, and even reading about that was awhile ago - I think he uses nanobots to basically make the suit part of him…and I think becomes increasingly obsessed/unstable about this?) seems too similar to the last movie.
I’d also heard that instead of using the Mandarin, they were giving Tony a “real life” bad guy, a terrorist. I feel like a more “traditional” storyline would’ve worked best and THEN have a fourth movie with Extremis/terrorist storyline. Anyway, I know that they’re incorporating elements of the Extremis storyline and terrorist villain, but that they are using the Mandarin as well, so I feel a little better about the movie. It may not be what I would’ve originally chosen, but it sounds like they’ll do a good job of incorporating all these elements and storylines into a great movie.
Anyway, enough speculating and complaining. On to the trailer!
(In no particular order…)
- Yay for Tony/Pepper!
- Looks like the suit improvements continue…
- I guess he’s in surgery of some kind? Either to integrate the suit/improvements more with his body…or possibly to remove the shrapnel from his heart? (Doesn’t he get the fixed in the comics at some point and not *need* the arc reactor for that reason anymore?)
- Tony’s mansion! That was quite dramatic.
- Poor Tony, looks like you’re going to be pretty unhappy for most of this movie. I don’t mind the suffering (I know, I’m a monster) but I hope the movie’s not 100% dark and devoid of humor.
