Lacuna Coil, sounds good.

Within Temptation, not bad.

Evanescence, I liked at least one of their tracks but it bugs me that they are meant to be Christian rock. The sub text puts me off even if they are very generic.

I guess the trappings of a bands music does influence my reaction to it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Jethro Tull, no idea to be honest.
Isn't he a folk singer or something?

Again with the trappings, this is more my path, listening to them on U-Tube now, not bad. I have herd of them before, not taken time to listen to them though.

Definitely recommend you give Amon Amarth a shot- viking-themed death metal; a few of the songs are unofficial HSS-themes in my mind. Try out 'Cry of the blackbirds' or 'Runes to my memory' in particular.
