Are members of mendicant orders really considered monks? I mean they are religious certainly, but I thought the term monk was generally reserved for men who are more or less confined to a religious house.

No, they're not really, although in some cultures the priories of mendicant orders are called monasteries nevertheless. That's the term Bonniwell uses in his history of the Dominican liturgy, recognizing that it's inaccurate.

I'm not 100% sure what the status of the OSA is, but in the case of the Dominicans, they are technically canons regular.

I got Franciscan. "You are the quintessential puppy dog of the monastic realm. Franciscans often make gifted counselors and psychologists as they tend to be very open emotionally and sensitive to those around them. You have a deep spirituality which manifests itself in a concern for those in need. You are more than likely involved in some form of social activism and have an appreciation and or talent for the arts."

I'll have to keep that in mind, when I decide to stop having sex and become a RC priest in a few years.
