Benjamin Button / Forrest Gump

So I have an irrational dislike for Tom Hanks. As a result I only watched about 20 minutes of Forrest Gump. Even so my first reaction to The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button was "isn't that plot just like Forrest Gump". Apparently yes:

I hated Benjamin Button so much, it still pisses me off weeks later. Yes, I have a problem. Anyway. That video makes me feel better about the whole thing :p

The real story is so much better and completely different than the movie.

I like most of Jazz Age Stories. It's not meant to be feel-good saccharine bullshit, there's a lot of wit and dark comedy and uncomfortable moments. It's not Forrest Gump!

I will always hate Forrest Gump because (aside from it being trash IMHO), it proceeded to beat one of my favourite films (The Shawshank Redemption) at the Oscars that year.

tom hanks has made some good movies, though forest gump ain't one of them. i recently saw "charlie wilson's war" and was thoroughly impressed.
