Bonnaroo

Feb 16, 2009 10:25

So, since we're going to be in that part of the country anyway we're going to Bonnaroo this year. Here's the lineup right now - I've bolded the ones I'm going to try to make it to. I'd love any suggestions for other bands I'm not into yet but that I should see anyway:
  • Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
  • Phish (2 Shows)
  • Beastie Boys
  • Nine Inch Nails

Del McCoury would make for a nice old school break.

hands down Rodrigo y Gabriela was one of the best shows i've ever seen. They are awesome and watching them jam is so amazing totally don't miss them...plus they cover awesome metal songs which is a kick on acoustic guitar. Ask nick about them...he LOVES them.

I say I hate you and despise you and hope you break a shoelace tomorrow. :P

Bela Fleck is awesome, as are Gov't Mule, Ben Harper, Coheed and Cambria, and HOLY CRAP THE MARS VOLTA FREAKIN' ROCK.

My shoelace was safe but I did get rained on. I'm not really into the jam band thing (or at least my dear wife detests them) so I'll miss some of that. I used to listen to Ben Harper but I haven't in about eight years - I should give him another try - and I hear he's amazing live - or at least was ten years ago. I didn't like the Mars Volta album I heard but I should listen some more.

I love Ben Harper but have no idea if our tastes are similar :) (Well, I do like all the bands I've heard of that you've bolded)

I used to love Ben Harper but I haven't listen to him in a long long time. I thought I'd grown out of him but I should give him another try.

Béla Fleck & Toumani Diabate would be awesome. Diabate's album from last year was really beautiful.

Booker T & the DBTs would be pretty classic.

Femi Kuti and the Positive Force would be neat. He's not quite as awesome as his Dad but Femi plays some pretty killer afrobeat.

King Sunny Adé. HOLY FUCKING CRAP IF YOU DON'T GO TO THIS AND THEN TELL ME ALL ABOUT IT SO I CAN LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH YOUR EXPERIENCES I WILL EXPLODE YOU WITH MY BRAIN. The man is a goddamn legend. Wicked Nigerian style Juju with the most insanely awesome slide guitar you will ever hear.

What King Sunny Adé should I go listen to to fall in awe? I watched some of his stuff on YouTube but it was either really old or really poorly recorded live.
