the crusades were all about land grab. Ya, reuniting the church, by taking the land! Altruism never existed.

While the land grab aspect was prevalant, it's arguable whether it started out that way. It was a genuine attempt to reinute the two christian churches, for a time. It just didn't really work out that way. At all.

I think it's important to separate out the various parties involved. I think that a great percentage of the population, and those who marched off to war definitely had the best of intentions, but the question is the intentions of Mother Church...

I actually enjoyed it. it was a bit hokey in parts, but Baldwin IV was bad-ass. Yeah, I quite liked it. If nothing else, it was a shitload better than Gladiator, even if it did test the limits of Scott's blue filter/high shutter speed period.
