It saddens me that I will probably never be smart enough to complete a Guardian Cryptic Crossword. Even when I have the answers the next day, I can't figure out what most of them mean.

The only person I've ever met who I know does these pretty much every day (and finishes) has been a massive pothead for around 40 years. Perhaps that's why I don't understand.
