Well it's looking more and more like LA will be where I will end up living. I have a company to interview for out there and judging from my phone conversation with them I think I stand a pretty good chance of getting a game testing job with them. It has good bennefits and decent pay. They also made "Spyro the Dragon", which makes them even more ( Read more... )

If either of those things works out, I am envious of your future. 60k as a policeman? That's really awesome for right out of college. My sister-in-law is barely making 24 or 25. And as for the game testing, how cool would it be to just sit around and test-drive video games all day? Like I said, I'm jealous. But I'm also very happy on your behalf.

Yeah, SF rent is crazy expensive. While I was living there, we split a house among 5 people, and it was still $1000 a month.

The FBI definitely likes people who have law enforcement background, so the LAPD isn't a bad idea if only for the work experience. Don't let the $60k/year go to your head, though: most likely, either the cost of living is quite high there (which it is) or the work is exceptionally dangerous. If a job offer -- especially an entry level one -- sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
