I think the pink eye is gone. Woohoo?

My kitchen floor is so clean you could eat off of it. Thank you my new pumice stone and two episodes of Hoarders.

What can I do for my hardwood floors? Previously I've mopped with a string mop but is there anything like a Swiffer out there that has reusable pads and/or is Eco-friendly? Liam's asthma flairs up ( Read more... )

you can buy or make reusable swiffer pads. heck, even a prefold diaper works great as a swiffer pad ;)

Really? I don't actually have a Swiffer so I would have to buy one first...

yep, a swiffer pad is a lot like a small prefold, thicker in the middle, with thinner sections to the side. The pad just wraps around the scrubber piece, and then you push the edges into the little grabby holes on top/back of the scrubber piece. Of course, if you dont have old prefolds around, you can buy washable/reusable pads on ebay pretty cheap. Oh, and you could probably find a swiffer on freecycle and not even have to buy one ;)

yes! This! My MIL uses old tee shirts with her swiffer for her wood floors.

I have a magic blue. It's like a swiffer but has a cotton pad that velcroes on and you can use it dry or wet. I have one pad for dry, and one for wet.

My Eureka steam mop was worth every penny. It gets the tile, linoleum, and wood floors sparkly clean and sanitized using only water. It comes with 2 reusable pads.

That's the one!
Changed my life. We have white tile in the kitchen with kids and I'd been scrubbing them on hands and knees. It gets them so clean with almost no effort (easier than pushing a vacuum).

I use something like this on my hardwood floors, and use vinegar as the cleaner.

I use kitchen towels or microfiber cloths on it. I like the prefold idea, though.

The steamer seems like ultimately the way to go. It's what I've had in mind for a while, just didn't want to spend the money.

I hate mopping, it totally creeps me out. I think it pushes dirty water around the floor. Until we lived in a house with lead paint issues, I only vacuumed. I love my vacuum. I vacuum every day.

Now, because we have the lead dust and crawling babies, I will scrub the floors in the playrooms with baby wipes (on my hands and knees) every so often. But for everyday cleaning, I vacuum.

Now that we have the dog, though, the kitchen floors get muddy from her paws. More mopping! Bah! I use microfiber car towels and. I rinse the towels with hot water in the sink, wring them out, throw them onto the floor, and use either a sponge mop handle or my foot to scrub up the floors. I use about 8-10 towels per floor.

My mom's housecleaners use ONE rag to damp-mop the whole downstairs and it gives me the skeevies. The rag is filthy dirty by the time they're done and these floors are not clean.

Hi, I'm type A and I have Floor Issues.
