And the strangers will find that we're really not strangers at all...

This isn't a bad little meme at all, gankt from fizit, who is also the originator of said memage.

Pick someone, anyone from your friends list and tell us how you met.
You can re-do this as may times as you like :P

How I met the savage_chuck:

We first ran into each other on the various Wold Newton Family related mailing lists. (And if you don't know what the Wold Newton Family is, I suggest you buy our book on the subject!) This would have been 2002, maybe even 2001.

In 2003, I won a trip to the States. And as I made plans to catch up with various friends in the US - mostly people I'd met through the same mailing lists I met Chuck on - I made damned sure that Chuck would be the one person I was absolutely assured of meeting.

So we worked it all out over email, and blixagerl and I travelled from New York City to Shreveport, Louisiana via Chicago and Dallas-Ft Worth. I think we finally arrived at Chuck's at about 1 in the morning.

It was a warm night, not unlike it is here in Melbourne as I type this. I remember I walked up to his back door, and I could see him sitting at the kitchen table reading something. I knocked, and he turned around, his face instantly breaking into a delighted grin. And I entered the house, and we hugged, me this weedy little Aussie and him this great lovable bear of a man. We sat up talking until some time after dawn, just totally grooving on each other's company.

As Hunter Thompson once said, it "was a classic affirmation of everything decent and true in the national spirit - but only for those with true grit."

And I remember he called me brother. On the day he met me. He took me - and my cousin (who is admittedly awesome, but still) he'd never met before - into his house, and he called me his brother.

I try to be worthy of that :)

oh happy occasion, psychogeography, awesome!, this is my truth - tell me yours..., memage
