My friends being great
My friends are so great. Here's a small sampling of excellent things friends of mine have done recently (and please feel free to share stuff about you and/or your friends in comments!):
1. Been one of the whistleblowers who revealed our Housing Secretary is a corrupt motherfucker. Birds of a feather being how they are, Boris is standing by him, but he's being investigated and may yet be forced to resign.
2. Been a primary school teacher who, when the kids had to write a short biography of someone from history at the end of June, changed the topic from Winston Churchill to Marsha P Johnson.
3. Been a secondary school teacher and her wife who spent three hours on a Friday night putting together a calm, polite email to the head about Please Stop Your Terrible Response to BLM. It's infuriating that they had to spend so much time on it and dial it down so much, but the guy's proved he won't listen to women who show a hint of emotion, and they're both white and wanted to take on the work and emotional effort for the teacher's colleagues.
4. Been someone working with P&G (who make menstrual products) on marketing, and saying taking the 'female' symbol off them was a good start but they could use more trans representation in their marketing.
5. Been people who live and/or care for vulnerable people, and limited their lives enormously in order to keep their loved ones safe from COVID-19.
