So I've been listening to a lot of alt. rock, alt. metal, hXc punk, and synthpunk lately.  Obviously, I'm feeling a bit more influenced by the alt. rock at the moment so I wrote down some lyrics.  I'm not much for poetry writing so let's see how this goes.

Lightning in the Storm

When wind whips while hearts beat cold,
Your eyes penetrate the shadows for nothing.
You stare into darkness bitter and old;
and what you seek willfully evades you.

She is your one true love.
She is your damnation.

She is the ghost in the fog,
That leads you to eyes so pale
You burn to forget the reflection you saw
But that never works so well, does it?

She spins her web, your dream-maker
She lies in wait.  Seeing your pulse go red.
She lies.  Your heart-breaker
spins and twirls in a dance with no beat.

She is the light of your life.
She is the lead in your temple.

She is the siren to sink a thousand ships
and send Captains home in boxes.
Toxic eyes and razored lips,
Masochism unleashed in flesh so pure.

You want to walk on air, to swim through sand.
But you'll never be more than what you are.
Stand the tests of time, be the last one on Earth and
See what that gets you.  See if that makes you happy.

And you see, she smiles.  
And you breathe a sigh of relief and finally rest in peace.
