I feel your pain, as I get adults who say stupid things all the time when I volunteer in the library at the Morikami museum. At least you get more of a chance to correct some of their behavior, whereas my only power is to smile, shrug, and really subtly correct them if needed.

I really should make a post about some of my library and museum stories.
