One of the fundamental questions which plagues humankind is how the universe started.
Mythology and science for the most part agree that there was nothingness and a dot- a dot that expanded outward in some form or another, whether it be by explosion or creation. The details of the story have been debated endlessly.
Usually, the truth is somewhat stranger than stories. This instance is no exception.
There is a universe next to ours populated by intelligent beings. To keep this story concise, only these facts need to be known about those beings: some of them believed in God, and some of them didn't.
And it was the same God all the believers worshiped, though there where many different versions of that God.
These intelligent beings knew that near them a new universe was being born.
The believers proclaimed it was the will of their God. The non-believers espoused it was a natural event.
So a believer and a non-believer decided to go to the new universe and watch its birth: the believer to prove his God's existence and the non-believer to prove the opposite.
The believer prayed to his God to spare him from madness upon seeing The Holy Face. The non-believer wished for the chance to see this almost-ultimate act of creation. For wishes exist whether you believe or don't believe. Without wishes, what is an intelligent being?
So the believer and the non-believer set off. And they broke the barrier of their universe and arrived in the new one. But the intelligent beings miscalculated. They did not know the rules of beyond.
The travelers set off the dormant egg they had gone to see.
And that is how our universe was formed.
