Leo Update

Jan 23, 2006 16:09

Joel took Leo in for his follow-up doctor appointment. His ear infection never fully got better. They are thinking about tubes in. We have to go back in two weeks again to see if that is the case. They said all his congestion is really from his ears draining and also that the reason he's not "talking" yet is because he can't hear us very well due ( Read more... )

My nephew didn't talk until he was like 2 or 3. All he would say until then was "duh." Is Leo walking yet?

No. He can pull himself up to stand by holding on to things, he can walk while holding on to the furnature too. He's trying to let go and stand up on his own, wont be long now!

Sorry to hear that his ears are still bothering him. I have never really had problems with ear infections but my brother used to get them all the time when he was little. He eventually grew out of them though. Hope things clear up soon.

I hope everything goes well if Leo has to get those tubes! My brother had them put in when he was a baby and it improved things 99%. I on the other hand didn't(couldn't afford it)and had ear infections until I was 10. luckily, it's seemed to skip Dmitri.

Having been down the recurring ear infection route with Rhianne (she had about 8 of them in her first year...and her eardrum ruptured once) I know how it is. No fun at all. :(
We considered tubes and even had an appointment w/an ENT, but decided to wait a bit longer to see if they would taper off after she turned one. They definitely have. She's 18 months and has only had one (in one ear only) in the last 6 months. She has never seemed to having issues with hearing or talking, however...and if she had, we would have gone ahead and had the tubes put in. Since Leo is possibly having problems hearing, it's most likely the best decision.

I had tubes in when I was 10. I had hearing issues. I had a ton of ear infections as a kid, not sure about when I was a baby (my mom and I currently aren't speaking, or I'd call and ask). They helped me a lot. I've been lucky that Aurra hasn't gotten any. Hopefully Leo will be ok soon.
