From the get-go I understood that Kurt was hiding his real last name because of its German origins. That was really clever of you and probably prudent on his part considering the Japanese concentration camp crap that America would soon pull.

It's interesting to see their 1940s code speak for "I'm gay". I think they are on the same page and understand what the other is saying, but I'm not 100% sure.
Poor Blaine, miserable for so many months, it's no wonder he was coming to be resigned, but it's nice that Kurt was able to get him looking forward again.
For the multiple times when Blaine was like "his voice was closer than I expected", I have to wonder how often Kurt just sat at his bedside right next to his head.
Can't wait to get to the rest!
