First of all, it's WAY more than expected but I'm THRILLED the way your muse ran away with you. :D
I adore case!fic and this is simply awesome. AWESOME. From the Firefly named cats, to the ghost lady with some depth to her, to the setting of both the gas station and small town hospital. It's all fabulous. So many details that you've peppered in here really make it so believable and so rich.
And the way you've written Sam and Dean's relationship is so true to the show (for what we know so far). I agree with your assessment that as frustrating as it can be, sometimes people have reasons we don't understand and don't need to understand regardless of how much we'd like to. Family makes the least amount of sense sometimes.
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! Thank you so much! What an awesome treat. :)
I am so glad you did like it :D My muse had been pretty sleepy and it's weird how a few random words sent it in an unexpected direction. Thanks for that! I had a blast :)
I really enjoyed this. First of all it's a casefic, there can never be enough of that. Given that you normally write humor this was a nice surprise. I also liked that you didn't write a more detailed explanation for the Sam not trying to find Dean thing. On one hand, it wasn't necessary for the plot, on the other hand this was Dean's POV so either you would have had to insert Sam's thoughts ointo it or make them talk. As already said, this is a casefic, so I liked your choice against it and focus on that. Perhaps you write more "serious" fic now from time to time
Thank you :) I probably will be writing more "serious". Of course I always have to throw in my weirdness. Glad you agreed with my choice re: Sam. Honestly, I didn't think it was necessary. I have kind of gotten to a point where I will be happy with no explanation if they can let things go and be brothers again. I was so tired of the bitterness.
Thank you :) I'm so happy you liked it. I actually have the cover to a dog snuggie box on my office wall. My co-worker bought me one (they're always bringing me strange things around there). I looked up at it one day and knew I had to work it into a fic somehow.
This was awesome! Love the case!fic and well-developed OCs. Also, it felt very much like a good episode of the show- very well balanced between a case, some brotherly angst and some humor thrown in for good measure!
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed. Lol on the little girl being a servant of the YEK. Spoiled kids can seem like the devil at times :) I'm hoping to start writing some longer fic again. I signed up for the Crossover big bang. So, that should keep me busy for a while.
I love this story! You did a great job balancing the roles of the OCs and the boys. They all felt real. And the problem Dean was having coming to terms with Sam's decisions while he was gone -- that was also brought out nicely, between his reactions and his anger, and his telling Sam to leave him to die and take care of the ghost. Loved Lester's talk with Dean and his (sad) decision to sacrifice himself for Dean and for his granddaughter.
Dean's forgiving Sam or beginning to let go of the anger, was the best part of this story. These lines were my favorite because they showed the change in Dean: "The thing was he understood why Sam did what he did and he would have done the same thing. It was the only thing family could do."
I am so about the forgiveness at this point. At first I wanted an explanation from Sam almost as much as Dean does, but there has been so much bitterness that I am ready to let go myself. If we can have eps like we've had the past couple of weeks where they are brothers again, to heck with grand explanations. They're family, they love eachother, move on.
I do hope the writers explain it a bit better at some point, but I've pretty much accepted that that's the way Sam sees it. Mind you, I don't know that that's how it happened, because this season has been all about illusion vs. reality, so I'm willing to bet it's not what it seems. But forgiveness is something I would like to see happen, on both sides.
