Ah! that was ambiguous writing on my part. I meant, the part of the crowd we could see, that we were standing in, outside Roy Thompson Hall during the service was perhaps a couple of thousand. I'm pretty sure there were many more on the other side of the building, on Nathan Philips Square, etc.
Yes, I'm glad too! And Toronto was so enriched by having Jack Layton on the City Council for so many years - it would not have become such a great city without him.
