reason vs randomness anonymous March 19 2005, 03:37:02 UTC
How can god be in randomness if everything happens for a reason. You contradict yourself

The title is in reference to the entry. Meaning it is not a long series of events or a coherent story. It is a list of random (aka- unrelated) events. And because God is in all of these things, it is by no mean a contradiction to proclaim that God is in randomness.

I disagree. If you were to show this to a "random" person they would be able to pick out a relationship right away between these events. The obvious is that they all happened to you. As you continue to break down these events you probably would see more connections between them. Each event had reasons behind them and there is a reason why you wrote of each of them in your journal. According to an earlier journal entry it was stated that everything happens for a reason. If that is so, then there is a reason why you wrote them all together in an entry. I personally believe whole heartedly in randomness but to say EVERYTHING happens for a reason is a rejection of random events. If you were to have said many things happen for a reason then there would be room for randomness..but for EVERYTHING to be for a reason, leaves no room for random events.
