Ok, I just got royally screwed over.... I ordered a skirt from Surface Spell through lolita_tales on LJ. I paid them for it a month ago and they said it would take about a month to make and ship. I got an email from them last week saying that they CANCELED my order. I emailed them back, and they said it was because they ran out of fabric. They said ( Read more... )

Have you messaged the seller? Where were they from? It can take up to a month for stuff to get here from other countries.
If they are from within the US politely ask about your item. Mention the date you paid for it and how long it's been. Then do not threaten but also politely say that you'll be opening a paypal claim within X amount of days (I usually give them 5) if they don't update you. You have 45 days from your purchase to open a claim : )

Just to let you know, you have 45 days from the day of payment to file a dispute against a seller. I suggest trying to e-mail/message the person to whom you purchased the cutsew from & ask where it is. Give them a couple days to respond. If you don't hear from them, open the paypal dispute. They'll need to have proof of shipment, usually a tracking number at least. Please also take into consideration where they've shipped the item from and what method they used. Some places like Italy and Canada can take forever to get things shipped to their proper destination. If you don't want to have to deal with a wait time like this in the future, I would suggest either purchasing from only US sellers or opting for shipping with tracking from outside the country (this can be quite expensive though). Another suggestion would be to make sure to check out loligothdbs beforehand to see what kind of feedback a seller has and also maybe check out egl for reviews on companies & commissioners ( ... )

Oh and I second the bit that evedestroys mentioned about letting a seller know how long they have to respond before you open the paypal dispute.

All good advice. I think I need to get more organized and put together before I try anything else. :3
