Oh wow, anon! I love this beginning, and you've created a really cool universe here. I like how you work the forms into it--pretty sinister stuff, particularly with the mental monitors and the happiness laws.

The dystopia you've created here is immediately chilling. As a big dystopia fan, I love it - and your brilliant writing - to pieces. Worried that maybe James might not have a plan, so frightened for both of them... however the plot unfolds, I'll be eagerly awaiting more, aa.
