David and Charles, they had reasons of their own, or so the papers thought. The papers didn’t know anything.

The problem with a Cluedo board was that there wasn’t an outside, Nick thought, and he put the first pill down.

David went first. In the car, with the carbon monoxide, he thought wryly. And the papers thought nothing of it, it of course wasn’t their fault. He was embarrassed about being caught stealing - never mind that no one killed themselves over embarrassment. David wouldn’t have, that was for sure. It was embarrassment, they said, or shame over being outed, and nothing was said about the black band on his wrist

(The one that hurts most is James, for having not been part of it, being left behind but still doing it anyway.)
