There comes a time when Tony simply stops caring. Gordon punishes him for something and for that mistreatment he has to punish Gordon back, until they reach a point where reconciliation is no longer an option. Misunderstanding becomes the sole language used between them, and the wounds inflicted run deeper. Eventually, he stops caring. It becomes about the job, but in a stronger sense than it was before. Work is a grind, and the question is no longer about the big picture, but how to get through today, how to get through tomorrow. How to make it work with Gordon, one day at a time, when it doesn't work at all ( ... )

This is wonderful, authoranon, and though not OP but I thought the angst was perfectly placed. TBGB is such a difficult pairing, and it works so well here.

This was lovely. I was sure it would have to be set before John Smith's death to work, but you've managed to acknowledge all the anger and misery and still reconcile them. Beautifully done.

I love politics and I love the meme and for the most part what happens in the latter rarely has an impact on how I see the former. But god. These TB/GB fills. I can't shake them, they're encoded themselves into the very DNA of my RL perceptions of both of them.
