12 - Coming full circle

Dearest Anons,

In five days (on May 8, 2011) this meme will have existed for a whole year.

It is an extraordinary achievement, your extraordinary achievement, to have kept this going well and alive for so long. With thousands of fics and comments, this meme is one of (if not the) most amazing thing I've ever come across. Not only the amount of fic ( Read more... )

Mandelborne prompt: "embrace 1973", says Captcha. anonymous May 18 2011, 08:21:25 UTC
As I commented on a lovely Mandelborne fill, I was treated with this promptastic Captcha: embrace 1973.

Captcha (or should I say The Machine?) is clearly prompting Mandelborne.

Many possibilities:
a) LifeOnMars!AU;
b) The first time the two met was in 1973, a chance encounter when George was just a child but he was fascinated by this dark-haired handsome stranger. Anon was thinking gen, possibly turning slashy once George is older.
c) Time-travelling!Mandelborne;
d) Whatever this captcha inspires Author-Anons to write.

Now Captcha says Octobre scorn. Break-up fill? Misundertsanding?

Oh please do! *sits on hands and waits (im)patiently*

Actually, I wouldn't mind reading any pairing inspired by this captcha but my mind is full of Mandelborne at the moment. :)

Aww! *hugs the wee George*

I adore Peter's delight in George - I can just see the grin. And George being suspicious - yes, indeed, he would, but then he takes decisive action - that's the George I love, anon. I'd read a ton more of your Mandelborne!

(OP) THANK YOU!

I love Peter finally realising who he is and that not being that person is impossible. I like at-peace-with-who-he-is!Peter very much.

Can't I adopt 3yr-old George?
He has worms to find in the garden, and a tree to climb; he doesn't have the time to argue with people that don't understand the concept of playing 'Pirates' properly.
This is made of so much win!!

This take on Mandelborne is incredibly appealing, if only for the possibility of a happier relationship between them than what we often see/read in fics. I find myself quite liking the thought of Peter looking at George with genuine delight. A Peter, free (if only temporarily) from the emotional madness of his New Labour cronies , is a wonderful image. As for adult!George, his behaviour seems consistent with his 3yr-old self, able to make his own decisions/knowing what he wants, except he also questions things now. A grown-up George! Where is the world going to? ;)

Thank you again for filling this and feel free to write more of them!

He had just been back at Oxford for a week before receiving a call about someone wanting to see him. A woman, the person on the other end seemed as bewildered as he was. A lady, too, by the sound of it- the name seemed a mangled, but she had been most insistent ( ... )

It was very sunny outside. They were picnicking under a tree, the boy and a young woman whom Peter presumed was his nanny. The boy poking something in the grass with a snowbell, and the nurse had a book open in one hand and another in his. The boy ran toward them. His mother picked him up ( ... )

How...? Wha..? You stopped there?!

This is incredible and I wasn't reading but rather devouring it. Once finished, I was left with many questions and only few answers, with a smile on my face but worry still in my heart for both of them. I'm amazed at how you managed that with a minifill but I bow down to your awesomeness, you wonderful AA.

Thank you. I wasn't sure it was a bit too many AUs at once. I think I'll write the second part of the prompt about all this turning into Mandelborne XD

The Prince of Darkness makes a pact! Ahahaha! I heart this fic and hope there will be more, anon.

(I might have imagined it, but is this not somehow canon-based post-Corfu - something Peter said? I can't kick my memory in the right place to work out what it was. Ah well.)

There will be more studying and ficccing is a difficult balance..

(Maybe it's canon-based subconsciously? I'm trying to work out what, perhaps, "George, who I've known, on and off, for a wee while" statement?)
