As I sit here playing through House of the Dead 2, I am reminded of how fucking terrible this game is of how much I miss being able to go to arcades

Don't you have one of the better arcades in your area? Super Arcade, I think it was. One of the few spots that have SSFIV: Arcade Edition! (Family Fun Arcade is what I got 10 mins away.)
Really? All the nearby arcades near me have all but closed down. The closest one is a Gameworks that's about a 20 minute drive, but maybe this Super Arcade has been hiding under my nose this whole time.
Considering I got myself deep into fighting games, I see the one thing I miss about the arcade is the local play. Seeing your opponent in person and show what you're made of. That and the light gun games (even with home ports and the whole reason why I still keep a tube, SDTV). I drifted away from DDR, though. I'd love to have something like that but the arcades here in San Diego aren't really great, especially compared to the ones I hear about around Los Angeles (Mura's response mentioned one reason why. SSFIV Arcade Edition).
Oh, if I was to play House of the Dead 2, I probably wouldn't. It's because I rather play its sillier spin off, Typing of the Dead. Yeah, I'm a fast typist and I'd like to see if my typing skills are good enough to type those zombies to death.
