Zachary and Janet run from the gang!!!!!
[03:45] wobblefluff: He could hear the revving of motorcycles just outside of the alley, and Zach broke the kiss, pressing his fingers against her lips to stop her from crying out. "Shh.. please. there's...." How do you explain something like this? That there was someone out to rape her? That he was too much of a soft-hearted boy to see another woman cry like his mother? What?! "Just... trust me. Please." he pleaded softly. If she cried out now, both of them would be stuck in a situation they wouldn't come out of unscathed.
[03:49] lollipopatrixxx: She had her mouth open to scream...and of all things! She noticed that although his hand was over her mouth he was gentle. It made her so startled she just locked eyes with him...and that moment lasted forever. Those huge hazel eyes...where had she seen them. Maybe above a window closing...maybe driving away forever. Maybe as her tears ran into her mouth and made her taste salt. Janet swallowed thickly and blinked and then she saw his mouth and his silly big ears and suddenly she knew. "Zachary." she breathed.

[03:52] wobblefluff: Zach stared at her, his eyes widening when she said his name. Who... wait... No... No way. He.... "J-janet?" He whispered in disbelief, leaning closer subconsciously. Little Janet from his street. Little... Little Janet who wasn't so little anymore, and his boss... Oh god. "Shit." Zach almost whimpered when he realised there was no way he could back out of this now. To give her in to the others.... he just couldn't do it.
[03:58] lollipopatrixxx: She started again in surprise. "You remember me?" god..she had been such a little pest and tagged along with him but....but always felt like he was only humoring her. Then again nobody else had bothered to even do that...had he ever known how she adored him as a kid? Instantly she blushed. "I never thought I'd see you, I..." there was urgency in his eyes though. "What...what's going on." she managed before blushing again...because impulsively she wished he would kiss her again.
[04:01] wobblefluff: Of course he remembered her. How couldn't he? The sweet little girl... who he supposed was still sweet, given that amazing, soft kiss... as shocked as she had been. Zach nodded, pressing his finger to his lips again to silence her. "We need.... we need to get out of here. There's someone.... some people who want to... they want to take you." he winced at how cliched and stupid he sounded. "Just.. don't.. don't panic, we can get out of this, okay?"
[04:08] lollipopatrixxx: Her eyes flew so wide. Of course her father had warned her when he ran for office that there might be danger in that...but she'd laughed about it. She wasn't famous or important. Who would even ever bother to think of her! "Take me?" she squeaked with her voice going up three octaves. She wanted to ask where Zachary had come from and how he knew and what was going on but all she could think past her terror was that....was that of course he was there to save her. "Oh god..." she whimpered and crossed herself One hand took his and held it tight. "What do we do?" How could she have ever thought he wanted to hurt her? She tried not to think about the kiss.
[04:12] wobblefluff: "Shhh." Zach shushed her. The motorcycles had seemingly left, but he was getting a little paranoid... considering it was Janet. He bit his bottom lip as he thought hard... a safe place... they needed to get to a safe place. His dark eyes glanced out of the alley, affording her a rather intimate view of his neck and collarbone. The years living as a biker had only hardened his young body, and his thick corded neck tensed at any small noise.
[04:15] lollipopatrixxx: He was beautiful. Even past her panic it hit her right in the stomach. She heard a sudden noice and jumped...her hands clutched his jacket. It was only a cat...right? "Zachary..." she whispered. "Don't worry." she felt suddenly warm. It would be ok. Worst came to worst....her father would pay any ransom and she would be home safe and sound. "Don't get hurt." she begged him. "If they come...run away."
[04:17] wobblefluff: He stiffened a little at the suggestion. Leave her to them? They wouldn't want money, just... take her and use her like the animals they were.... like the animal he was. Zach swallowed tightly, "I won't let anything happen to you." His eyes roamed her features for a moment, and he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, holding her close. "Come on... we'll... let's get you home, okay? Your Dad... he's still got those bodyguards?"
[04:22] lollipopatrixxx: "I suppose." she whispered but as she pressed to him she wondered again what that kiss was all about. And his hand on her...or had she imagined that? She shook her head. "He's giving a speech." she offered. "At the capital. He....I...oh god..what if the papers find out he..." she started to panic again. He would be so angry if she had any impact on his campaign!
[04:25] wobblefluff: Hitching up his hood over his head, Zach kept his arm around her neck, guiding her slowly out of the alley. His eyes shot left and right, boots clicking loudly as they kept moving. "Well... Where... where do you stay? We need to get you home."

She tried not to be but this was totally out of nowhere. "How..how did you...did you come to look for me?" he must have. Her heart swelled with hope. "It's been so long..."
[04:32] wobblefluff: "Okay... we'll... we'll get you home okay?" There was the sound of footsteps behind them, and Zach tried not to tense up, to give anything away. If they knew it was him, they'd shoot him... or worse. "I... ... I didn't realise it was you." he offered lamely, turning to glance at her. "I wanted to look... but... your..." Her family had never approved of him, or his mother.... and his father... well, there was no need going into details. "But I wasn't welcome anywhere near you."
[04:38] lollipopatrixxx: "I'm sorry." she offered. She knew that her parents didn't like him but had never cared...she had only cared that he noticed when she followed him around and he had spared some time for her when nobody else could be bothered. She never knew why he had to go away but always missed him..even though she had moved on and made other friends. He was still the puppy love of her childhood. As they walked she felt like any girl walking home with her steady boy putting his arm around her shoulders. "I can't believe anyone would bother with me." she mused. "It's only a senate seat. That...that isn't too important is it?" maybe there was more to politics than she knew...her father always said not to worry her pretty head over it.
[04:41] wobblefluff: A senate seat? Zach knew that her dad was big... but senate.... There could be more than one reason why she had been targeted. "Fuck." He swore when the footsteps approached closer, and he grabbed her hand, running full out. "Don't look back," he ordered softly, catching a glimpse of two of them speeding up.

[04:48] wobblefluff: Zach managed a tiny smile when she started to pull ahead, and put in more effort in his running. The cronies wouldn't be able to keep up with them at this rate, and he managed a soft snort of laughter as they ran. He cleared the wall easily, glancing back to see if those two unfit nutbags was anywhere near.
[04:52] lollipopatrixxx: She didn't have as much luck. She leaped high and tried...but her skirt caught and made her fumble her landing. She crashed down and even though in a moment she was back on her feet she was wincing in pain. Still she stood...only she looked back. She couldn't help it. She had been expecting...well she had no idea. Thugs or...men that looked like the ex-cons her mother sometimes went to minister to with hungry faces and missing teeth. These were just leather-clad youths...she stumbled in surprise and grabbed for Zachary. "Oh...oh. They aren't...we..."
[04:57] wobblefluff: Shit! His confidence faded the moment she tripped, and he skidded to a halt a few steps ahead, shocked when he saw his fellow initiates chasing them. he knew what they were capable of... and it wasn't good. "Fuck." Zach slipped his arms around her, lifting her cleanly into her arms as he took off again as fast as he could.
[05:00] lollipopatrixxx: Had he really just lifted her up? She knew she slowed him down though. "I can run I can run!" she insisted. The thought that he would endanger himself made her feel sick inside. Beside she knew there was a classmate's yard near there...and she was pretty sure they could go in and use the phone or at least be safe....at least safe from a few teenage toughs. She scrambled down from his arms and ran with him...finally pulling him through a gap in the fence and into her friend's yard. She paused gasping and trying to catch her breath.
[05:04] wobblefluff: There was a sickening sensation that was building in his stomach. If she knew... if they.... When they fell through the fence, he scrambled back to his feet, pushing her towards the door. "Go inside!! Quickly!" Zach disappeared back out of the gap, shoving the fallen wood back into place. If anyone was going to take the blame for this... it would be im. Determined, he let out a roar as he ran towards his old friends, taking a punch in the face before getting full into a huge scuffle.
[05:09] lollipopatrixxx: What...that had all happened so fast! One minute she was pulling him toward the house where she could see her friend's mother already coming to the back patio doors (still wearing an oven mitt) and the next he was gone...back through the gap. Had he gone to defend her? "No, no!" she cried but...how much could she really help him? She decided to use her brain instead of her small delicate hands. She ran to her friend's mom and begged "Please...dial the police!" the woman did it without questioning and over the line Janet sobbed that her friend was being attacked by two motorcycle thugs. The policeman was a kindly man who said he knew her mother and he would send over a car right away. She thanked him and wiped the tears away as she ran back into the yard to peek through the fence. Oh god...if anything happened to Zachary she'd never forgive herself! Was that the patrol car coming near?
[05:13] wobblefluff: No words needed to be spoken. They had seen him with her, and they weren't too happy about it. Still, there was no way in hell that Zach was going to let them past him. He fought like a wild thing, but they had the advantage of numbers and soon had the upper hand. He gave as good as he got, kicking and punching with all his strength... hard enough to snap one of their ribs if the sickening crunch was any indication. Zach flashed them a bloody smirk, drawing his hand across his mouth to clean off the metallic liquid.
[05:17] lollipopatrixxx: Mrs. Jones was behind Janet and held her by the shoulders to prevent her going back through the fence. "No no no!" she cried and the tears ran freely as she couldn't help catching glimpses of the terrible fight. "Leave him alone you animals!" she didn't even know if they could hear her...she was invisible again. just like when she was a child. Finally she pulled back the board and felt a splinter deep in her palm just as she heard the patrol card squeal into the alley and the deputy shout at the boys to stop fighting. She ran to Zachary as fast as she could and didn't even think about herself.
[05:20] wobblefluff: The sound of the sirens approached caused the urge to run within Zach... but he couldn't move. One of them had clocked him hard across the face, and his ears were ringing as he slid to the ground, vision blurred. He blinked tiredly, watching the two of them flee into the shadows, and suddenly Janet was there in front of him, touching him. He smiled at her, raising a hand to brush the hair from her face. "Its.... its okay......"
[05:24] lollipopatrixxx: She was sobbing now and a complete mess but she couldn't even care! She had just found him again and he had taken that beating...for her! To protect her! She gathered him into her arms as the deputy ran up to them. She pointed at the way the others had gone. "That way. They chased me...then attacked him!" the man went off running and she turned to Zachary. "Come on." she whispered. "Lets get you inside." she could help him in and then...then he would be ok..he really would...she tried to convince herself.
[05:26] wobblefluff: His right arm wasn't working too well for some reason, and he drew his fingertips over her cheeks, trying to dry her tears. Zach winced as he got to his feet, leaning back heavily against the fence. "I'm... I'm fine. There's no need."
[05:28] lollipopatrixxx: "D-don't say that." she cried and Mrs. Jones came to help her...slipping an arm around him as well. Together they helped him to the house and sat him down on a chair. The woman went to get a steak and some ice while Janet ran a cloth under the water and gently held it to Zach's bloody face. "Why did you do that." she whimpered. "You didn't have to. Oh god...I'm so sorry, Zachary. I'll never forgive myself. I'm so sorry. This is all my fault!"
[05:31] wobblefluff: "I'm fi-" The press of something against his aching ribs nearly made him pass out, and he stumbled quietly into the house. Biting his split lip to stop himself from crying out from the pain, he slid down into the chair with a wince. The wet towel to his face was so soothing, and he shook his head, reaching for her wrist to stop her panicked blabbering. "Janet.... Janet I'm fine. I'm... I'm used to this, I'm fine." He smiled up at her, his slow, warm smile that she always used to like when they were younger. "I'm fine." He managed to maneuver his bad arm onto his lap, cupping her hand between two of his.
[05:34] lollipopatrixxx: To have his hand holding hers...she went quiet instantly. He calmed her down just like when she'd cried when they were little. "You're hurt." she managed and had to swallow to keep from bursting into tears again. "How could anyone be used..." she snapped her mouth shut. Something...something dark in the back of her head said that she knew or remembered more than she could accept about his life and his parents...so she just let the wall of denial stay there. "I'm so sorry." she finally finished and this time was extra gentle as she cleaned off his face. She wanted to kiss it all better...tenderly and carefully she leaned in and brushed the lightest chaste kiss just above his eyebrow.
[05:39] wobblefluff: Zach didn't like it when Janet cried, and he kept smiling as much as it hurt his jaw. "Its fine... don't worry about it, okay?" He whispered softly, letting go of her wrist when he realised he was still holding it. To say he was shocked when she kissed his forehead would be an understatement... but it felt good. No one had ever touched him that way, or showed so much affection to him. Blushing, he tilted his head up to kiss her chin... it was the right thing to do... right?
[05:42] lollipopatrixxx: She had already been pulling away when his mouth brushed her chin. It was so unexpected that she jerked back even faster with startled eyes. Had he meant to? Still there was so much hope and affection and devotion in her eyes...and just then Mrs. Jones came back with a raw steak and a bag of ice...and some bandages. "Let's get you fixed up." the woman said kindly as Janet kept wiping the blood and dirt away gently. She bit her lip with fear that the woman had seen what had happened. Hopefully not!
[05:46] wobblefluff: He felt his heart thump in his chest at the expresion on her face, and he wanted to kiss her again. But then there was this lady bustling around, and urging him to take off his shirt so that she could see any damage done. Zach was confused, and still dizzy from the fight, shucking off his jacket and working at removing his simple black T despite his immovable right arm.
[05:49] lollipopatrixxx: Where was the deputy? Janet held her rosary and prayed that he would catch the two thugs that had hurt Zachary. And yet it showed you couldn't judge by appearances...because he wore a leather jacket too but..so what? It didn't mean anything. It was probably just the fashion...wherever he had been living. Or maybe it had been a gift. Of he got it at a yard sale. Yes. That made sense she decided. Then suddenly she saw his bare chest revealed and turned beet red. "I...I think I"ll...I'll go find..the...the officer..." she stammered and ducked outside. Soon she found out that they hadn't been caught but the deputy offered to take Zachary to the hospital in his car. She relayed this message and tried not to look at his shoulders and arms....especially not the one that was bruising rather badly and made her stomach churn.

"It's all my fault....and I'll find a way to thank you. I swear I will." the deputy said he'd take her home...and then Zach where he wanted to go. She took his hands and without thinking pressed a scrap with her telephone code into his pocket. "Don't forget me again."
[06:01] wobblefluff: "I'm sure... you... yea. You should get home." Zach felt his heart fall, and hoped that the smile was still firmly planted on his face. He nodded and lifted her hand to kiss her palm. "Of course... I... I could never forget you, Janet." He smiled reassuringly, waiting till she was outside with the deputy and that lady before sneaking out the back. He slung his jacket over his bare back, limping slowly back to his home.
