Hi everyone! Here's a drawing I found of mine while cleaning this weekend. It's probably the earliest drawing I have. Pretty wild to see that even at age 5, I was into pattern. (border design)

hats aren't all that difficult my friend. You did something in the round awhile ago, right? I have a really simple pattern - if someone shows you how to knit with four needles and in the round, you've got it whipped. Lovely yarn, though. ;-) barbara >..

and, I should add - that if you want a hat - the roll brim like I sent earlier - out of that yarn, I could whip it up for you - or if you have another pattern you like - just send me the pattern (or a link to it) and the yarn - and, voila! I can do that.

Thank you Barbara. I do have circular needles and I think with a little help (or maybe using the simple pattern that Kris posted below) I'll be able to probably make a hat soon.(yeah!) Thanks for the hat making offer though :) Lo**
Hi Linda! Nice to see you :) It does look like it says Lori "Rose" doesn't it?---Not sure who's writing that is. Maybe the teachers? It's not my parents (they both had very distinct penmanship) Lo**

Lisa, you've made 100 hats!??? ((lol)) So did you knit some of them in the dark? Thank you for that link to the simple knitted hat pattern AND the second link to you in your pretty blue hat! I saw that blue color in the yarn store the other day. They didn't have very many color choices at the shop I went to, they said the yarn was new for them to carry, and they were just trying it out.
your new scarf is lovely, but the cables are going to make it a bit stiff. consider this easy, peasy pattern (courtesy of the yarnharlot .... www.yarnharlot.com)
up your needle size to about a 10 and here is the pattern:
Start: Cast on 26 stitches (to make it wider or narrower add or remove stitches in groups of 4 )
Row 1: *knit 2, knit into the back of the next stitch, purl 1. Repeat from * till there are 2 stitches left. Knit 2.
Repeat that one row every row until you can stand it no longer, your scarf is long enough or you run out of yarn, whatever comes first.
you should be able to get a really long nice scarf out of your 200 yards. knitting is addictive, no?
Thank you for that alternative "easy-peasy" scarf patterm Kris. I was going to have to rip out that ribbed scarf I started anyway--- I found two boo-boos in it:( So now that I know that the scarf would turn out to be too stiff --I have another reason to rip-out and start over. ;)

Kris...K, I ripped out my scarf and started over using your pattern...but I wasn't sure how you do the "knit one behind purl business" I looked online but nothing :( So I just did some tests and I THINK? I might have done it correctly so I was all happy until I realized that uyou said I should up my needle size to be 10's (all I have with me here at work are 8's) So I ripped it out again, and will try it again tonight with size 10's. I also have a couple knitting books at home that will probably show me how to do that behind stictch-a-roo thing ;)

hey Lo!
the 8 needles might work, but the 10s will give you a better look I think.
I think I can help. here is the pattern...you will have four stitches per repeat.
*knit knit knit into the back of the stitch purl* repeat from * to *
the knitting into the back of the stitch is just as it sounds. you know how to purl, right? knitting into the back of a stitch is just like purling but you insert the right hand needle BEHIND the left hand needle (instead of in front of it as in a purl stitch). make sense?
what is so great about this pattern is it is simple yet still interesting to knit. also it makes for a nice reversible scarf.
if you are still having problems, let me know and I'll take a photo of me doing it and email it to you. or we can webcam or something.
Wait until you start knitting and felting bags! and slippers! easy and oh so fun.

You're RIGHT! KQ, K, I'm thinking this yarn looks like green moss growing on a brown weathered piece of wood in the forest. :) Oh well, duh...I guess the people who named this yarn thought of that same thing---since it's called "Autumn Forest." Lo**
