Pirate and Native Shenanigans at Lunch Time!

Feb 22, 2010 00:32

WHO: Aziza and Jared
WHEN: Monday @ lunch time 2/22/10
WHERE: one of LU's teacher lounge
WHAT: Dance instructor meets Ethics professor

Despite the size of her classes - really most teachers would kill to have less than 15 students a period! - it was harder to teach them than a chem major trying to explain some advanced theory to like 10 year olds! It was simple. You listened to the beat, you followed the movements. These people could barely get the shimmy right, let alone the basic steps for the Ghoomar she had attempted to teach them today! Really how hard was it to swivel your hips in time to the music then pivot on the ball of your foot to spin? Sometimes she thought these American kids were given far too much credit in other parts of the world. That, or she only got the idiotic ones. Sighing Aziza slipped on her jacket and shoes, flicking the light switch on her way out. It had been getting a bit warmer. Sort of. She couldn't really say a day of wind and sun then several days of gloom was a turn for the better but she had to think that hey at least the sun was shining. Right...?

Bag in hand and jacket clenched shut with the other against the wind the dance instructor squeezed through the mass of college students, all going the opposite way she way. Why in the world did the teachers lounge have to be the opposite direction of the cafeteria again? Really the architecture here surprised her sometimes. Might as well get going though, lunch didn't last forever. Feeling much like a salmon struggling up stream she weaved through the crowd, slipping through narrow gaps between gaggles of friends. Finally it evened out a bit more as she approached one of the rarer used staff lounges. A few hit and misses had shown this building was usually the least busy since the teachers on this side either ate with their students, out or in the office, if they were even in with all the trips they took.

Humming some new hip song from the Bollywood video her friend Ana had suggested Aziza slid into the room, dropping her jacket onto a vacant chair. It felt so good to be in her normal outfits once more~ Being in so much clothes had bugged her and she felt free in her black tribal skirt and fluted sleeved top. Much more so than the harem pants and sweats and boots and several shirts she'd finally begun to shed over the past week or so.

Still humming the dark skinned woman pulled two small containers from her bag, hips swaying to the beat she was remembering as she made her way over to the microwave. Container lids off she put the curry in first, set on tossing in the rice when it was halfway through. Fresh from last night when she'd once again made too much for just herself. It meant an easy lunch though and Aziza grinned, leaning close to the microwave to watch her food cook.
