WHO: Padma and Francis
WHEN: December 21; Tuesday
WHERE: Out on the town, where all of the best stores are
WHAT: Some late Christmas shopping creates friends between two very different individuals.
All of this talk about Christmas had Padma itching to go see what the holiday was all about, from the extravagant deals she caught on the telly, to this great Santa figure she's heard about from the children in her apartment building. It wasn't the same at all to how she spent the 25th back at home; a national holiday, but not one that rewarded you with presents and sweet cookies. America was at least interesting, because otherwise she would not have been so eager to finally get out of the house that evening and wander the streets to see what the "magic" was she'd been hearing about.
Padma found herself leaning over a street stall as soon as she arrived at the shopping district by taxi, her face lit up in a smile as she admired the hand-crafted ornaments and jewelry, some shaped like small birds and others as chirping crickets. Everything was so adorable, but she only had so much money to spend for the night, the leftover cash from her trip to the states. It was a struggle on whether she should buy one nice thing, or several small ones... There were so many choices, and such a indecisive girl like Padma found it to be problematic and annoying.
She put her palms over her ears, hoping to make them less numb, and then brought her silk blue scarf up to protect them from the elements. Liberty; A fun place to stroll, and the lights and decorations were fantastic, but the weather was awful. She didn't even know where to start.
