today i am making my first foray into bread baking. i discovered a couple of weeks ago at poker night that the new roommate of our host is also half-portuguese. he and i proceeded to lament the absence of portuguese bakeries in new york city (literally not a one, people. it's tragic.) and i decided to take matters into my own hands ( Read more... )

I am curious to know how this baking experiment (or “bakesperiment”, if you will) turned out. Is the finished product suitable for a sandwich, or is it that tasty but crumbly “cakey” bread, best for toasting?
