it's really wasn't even about gay marriage. it's more so about protecting older people. what they wanted to pass was, when an older person marries another older person that they are allowed to keep their benefits. many times, older people do no get re-married, simply because they lose all there benefits. another thing that went along with it was, say gino and i lived together for 50 years, but never got married, if he got into a car crash, i would have no say what happens to him. i wouldn't even be alowed in the room or anything, once any simply because we were not married. fucked up, isn't it. but people are dumb, and won't really look into what their voting for. but hey, that's america for ya.

there was a phone number in your local paper to call if you didn't understand the amendment.

but yeah, i think a gay wedding would be tons of fun.
not so much the buttsex though.

what? what number did you call that told you this? lol

"The Florida Marriage Amendment, also known as Proposition 2 and The Marriage Protection Amendment, is a proposed constitutional amendment to the Florida Constitution that will appear on the November 4, 2008 ballot in Florida. In order to pass, the amendment will require a 60% majority of those voting in the election.

The ballot language says, "This amendment protects marriage as the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife and provides that no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized."

There is this asshole where I work, one of those "if you don't have my opinion which is the lord's opinion and believe me i know, you're going to hell" type people who stated the reason he voted against it was b/c he did not believe gay couples should have the same financial rights as heterosexual couples. His reasoning they cannot produce a family and make more american children.

I asked him what he thought about infertile american couples getting married, he said they should b/c whether the equipment works or not is a different story.

I was dumbfounded.

Most people didn't realize what you were really voting for was whether or not it should be up to the federal government or the state government. In essence you were voting whether or not you would vote on this again.

I can't understand people's ignorance...
