So I'm not at all involved in The Walking Dead fandom, but I keep hearing whispers of hatred for various female characters. Apparently "everyone" hated Lori. When I asked my friends on Facebook if they hated Lori, most people enthusiastically agreed that they did and obviously EVERYONE hated her because she was a horrible person.
Now I'm hearing people hate Andrea too?
Maybe it's because I was part of the Battlestar Galactica fandom where there were no good guys and bad guys and characters you LOVED would make shitty choices all the time, but I'm honestly shocked that people hate these characters. When I watch The Walking Dead, I see good people making hard choices for survival. Obviously there are some poor choices made (usually it's Rick), and I mourn for those choices but I don't hate those characters. I hate the Governor. That's about it.
I'm also concerned that Carl is turning into a baby Governor. That kid isn't doing so well with the end of the world.
I love that the survivors from the Governor's camp joined the Prison folk. I seriously got teary with how happy that choice made me because even though adding more people means more chances for discontent in the ranks, more people means more of humanity survives. I think Rick's people need other people. And there are children there so hopefully Carl can stop being a baby psychopath and start being a kid again. And Judith (horrible name) can grow up with other kids.
I'm so sad we lost Andrea though. And I'm waiting for the moment when Mama McCall (what's Melissa's character name in this? Karen?) figures out that Carl killed her son. I'm glad Mama McCall survived even if her teenage son with asthma didn't.
So there are my random, totally late to the party thoughts on TWD.
