Very interesting beginning. Draco has his pretty home and pretty objects and pretty son but is still affected by what he dismissed from his life. I'm very curious to see where this goes ...

Part of the reason Draco is so strongly affected is that he never really faced the feelings losing Harry caused in him. He just shoved him away as hard as he could and then pretended everything is beautiful and that ugliness won't hurt him if he doesn't think about it. That's particularly visible in Chapter 2.
