I think you did a lovely job with Luna and I'm happy to see her here. I'm not fond of stories that depict her as someone without a thought. She wasn't placed in Ravenclaw by accident and just because she thinks differently doesn't mean that she doesn't think at all.
I wonder if this is the first time Draco has thought of someone without connecting them in some way with the weaving of fiction and reality that seems to be a constant in his head. His interactions with people revolve around digging for details or ideas and it appears to be a bit of a revelation that he might be interested in Harry for no other reason than getting to know him and enjoy his company. Or, perhaps, even helping him.
I agree. I think one of the reasons she gets written as dim is that it's hard to get into the mindset of someone who simply doesn't seem to get that other people are teasing her. I prefer to think that she does know and ignores it because it doesn't matter to her.
And yes, that's the nail on the head right there. Even Luna, whom he relaxes around, was more important for him as the original of Selene than as a separate, important person in her own right.
This story is wonderful--you raise all sorts of questions. I like the way that Draco's finally starting to understand a few things about Harry, and I loved Luna in this. I look forward to the next chapter! : )
loved this chapter! draco is developing into a more insightful character by understanding harry more and i enjoy reading it (: i love how you portrayed luna as still the weird girl as we know her, but actually rather intelligent and more sensible than we give her credit for! awesome :D cant wait for the next chap!!!

Wee fix:
- No matter how often he came to talk to Lovegood, he assumed she wanted to talk to Longbottom instead. [she assumed he]

This story is set pretty far in the future, so I think all the characters will have matured- Luna included.
