Well it just seems plain idiotic to keep some things secret, doesn't it?

Yeah. Well, sometimes it doesn't seem like a big deal at first, it's just a bit easier, but as time goes on it takes on a bit more gravity. And sometimes it's about respecting someone else's wishes.

I mean, you do realise it's not exactly a secret anymore, right? It seems off to keep calling it one.

Yeah, I'm pretty well aware of that. But there's a difference between something sort of coming out, and something being officially out in the open. I'm not sure what else to call it at the moment.

Maybe if certain secrets didn't involve certain people very close to other certain people, then a lot of problems would get cleared up right quick.

Oi, come now, if she's happy. You've seen her with him. It's not as if we aren't secretive ourselves. Probably could have done a bit better from our example, though.

All I'm saying is that if things weren't all secret in this scenario, it would probably be happier for the parties involved.

He better be making her happy.

You're very right, Toodlepip.

Course he is, you'd think Charlie'd be having a pint with him if he weren't?

Want to talk about it sometime? I bought made a chocolate raspberry trifle and I can't eat it all by myself.

Well, we can't let that go to waste. Let's eat trifle and talk about something else and I won't think about this for awhile, that might be the best thing.

It's harder when you are muggleborn, because some of them you know longer than you've known you are a wizard. It's not like I haven't had troubles myself, because I'm not a mysterious bloke like the Slytherins or the Ravenclaws. So I guess people don't expect something like that from me, but I reckon they wouldn't be so sceptical if I were more... old-fashioned. Maybe.

In any case, being called Gandalf is rather an honour, I should think. I expected Irene to ask me to do card tricks when I told her!

Yeah, exactly. People I've known since I was little, they just see me as the same as them, same as I ever was. Can't really fathom anything else. It's a strange thing, because for a long time I thought I was just the same as anyone else. It's hard to know how to deal with it sometimes.

But I think anyone who doesn't shut themselves away in the wizarding world exclusively deals with a bit of it. I guess if you went sweeping around in a cloak looking mysterious or something people would be quicker to buy it! But if you were more old-fashioned I don't think you'd be living in the situation you are.

Ha, yeah, Gandalf's not half bad, is it? Can't complain on that front.
