Dad happened to see The Pentamerone on the dining room table today. He's been with Mum long enough to know a book like that doesn't come cheap. Now, I make all my purchases on his account, so he'd eventually see that astronomical sum I spent on ( Read more... )

No-one cares. You can stop with the 'my family's so mysterious' because no-one cares.

You go on and on about how mysterious it all is (thus proving that for a Ravenclaw, you really are not that intelligent) and expect people to care?

I never said mysterious, I said odd.

They mean two different things.

And I really don't care one way or another what people think.

Perhaps he has decided you need a sizeable library more than a sizeable vault at Gringott's?

You know, there's really no point in wondering what he does when he's at work. I used to try to ask my mum about what she did when she was sent out on assignments and she always just changed the subject. She still does, actually, though I sometimes hear tidbits about where she's going. Ministry workers just love to be elusive about their jobs. It's better just to take things as they are and not drive yourself nutters by trying to figure out what the big secret is because I can guarantee you, you won't figure it out.

And I know that, deep down. It's something strange, and for years I've wondered. of course, 17 years have given me ample time to realize that there's no point.

So of course, I'm considering working for the Ministry.

Granted. But wouldn't one apply the full power of one's intellect to such a great mystery?

How terribly odd, to not know your lineage. Although I suppose those living in the Muggle world are probably less focused on bloodlines.
