Lonely Autumn.

Halloween is coming and the nights are drawing in,
and I went to bed last night and tucked my dreaming in,
when I woke (too early,) My dreams had fled away.
I don't know if I met a wolf, they don't come out by day.

(But if I should go out today, I'll wear my nice red cape,

Why should we escape?
Outside it's cold and gray
Cloudy nights with no new stars
we'd much rather come and play...

Its the time of the year
when the wolves range free
and the song of the pack
calls "run with me!"
and the scent blows high
on the froststung air
and the song of the pack cries
"Who goes there?"

and the frost-crisp grass
crackles under our feet
and the fire burns hot
and the songs are sweet
and the work and the cold
are for the day -
and the night winds call
now come and play!

Howl and sing down the moon,
Chase and fling all cares away...
a night of Masks is coming soon,
so shades and Shifters stray
from familiar paths to new...

It did, they did - but they almost didn't. Amazon delivered them to a neighbour and I didn't know until he knocked on the door just as I was heading for bed! (I slept and woke up again at about 2,30a.m.)

Thank you. You are a wonderful friend, (much better than I deserve.)
