Saturday - shopped about with my father for Christmas presents for my mum. The mall was packed, as would be expected so close to Christmas, and this was made worse by the fact that everyone was behaving rather poorly and, above all else, maneuvering badly in the crowd. I loathe those people that cannot seem to walk at a proper pace, especially at such a busy time of year. Bah, humbug.
We braved the evil overlord of women's handbags, who seemed to think we were utterly incompetent. She was awfully condescending while we purchased a certain bag for my mum, and as we walked through the mall discussing her behavior, we grew so irritated that we marched back and returned the bag to...uphold our honor...or something. Later, however, we crawled back and re-bought the bag. The overlord wasn't there, though. So, at least we could pretend to maintain some dignity. We are so silly.
My father is absolutely impossible to shop with. He spends entirely to much time looking at things for himself rather than for my mother (did we really need to spend twenty minutes looking at the barometers, da?).
The Christmas Dance at Archmere was later that night, and I went to dinner beforehand with some girls who would not have invited me if I didn't always sit at their table at lunch. Had an uncomfortable time at dinner, and was off to the dance. It was, as I should have expected, absolutely horrible. Bad lighting, bad music, no conversation (it was far too loud), and no
t_love. Le sigh. I got so depressed I left about an out to dinner hour before it ended. Ah well. Perhaps I just shouldn't go next year. Now I'm dreading the other Christmas dance I have to go to. There's no way I can back out of it, either, as my mum has already paid.
So, I came home and was feeling rather off for a bit. Listened to some John Barleycorn Must Die. Felt a little better after that. Mmm, Traffic.
Sunday - sat around. Realized that as much as I hate myself for it, I actually enjoy the Jet album.
Today - Did Christmasy things with my little sister. She was a huge pain in the ass, and made an enormous mess which I then had to clean up. Tried to encourage some sisterly bonding by watching Fellowship of the Ring with her, but she couldn't even make it to Moria. Grr.
My great-great aunt lives in Pasa Robles and has just been in a hee-yuge earthquake. I do hope she's alright! We haven't been able to get through. *worries*
In other news, I would be tickled pink if you lovely people could suggest a livejournal user or two worth befriending. Justify your answer if you feel like it, or don't if you don't want to. No pressure. I just would like to experience some new people. Go to!
