I wanted to do one of those 'best of '03' lists too, but I think of the hundred or so albums I purchased this year maybe three are new. I'll just go ahead and proclaim the new Go-Betweens as the album of the year and be done with it. No point in hiding my atavism.

I must say, this is the first time I've been able to compile such a list. Usually I do a "best music that I've purchased this year" list, which isn't nearly as exciting.

And...I actually haven't heard the new Go-Betweens album. I think I was feeling that if I listened to it and didn't like it, it would taint my memory or depress me or something like that. But, I'm awfully glad to hear it wasn't awful.
