Obviously not, I mutter, or else you wouldn’t be telling us this…
So he pulls into the dorm, and immediately a drunk guy vomits out of his window, hitting the car. At that very moment, He finally gets it. Something finally snaps in him, which after more than 30 years so desperately needed to snap. He wasn’t living the life he wanted too! He got out of the cab, which was his car, drove it down the road and sold it. He enrolled and got his degree, married the woman he drove in that cab that day, and is now telling his story to his first class. And now he is happy.
Needless to say, I really like Siddhartha now, I didn’t miss another one of his classes, and I read on a pretty regular basis.
And what is the moral of this long and rambling story?
A lot of things in life can go wrong. A lot of things in life can make absolutely no sense at all. But no matter what, you can always find some comfort and solace in teaching a high school English class.
