good job, jgar! i liked the directing... not that it felt any different from the rest except for that one zoom in on arvin clone's mouth. i loved the chase scene, where dixon goes after the truck and then vaughn, nadia, marshall join. i absolutely love that grainy, unsaturated feel. and marshall! with a gun! he wins my heart.
anywho.
basically, they catch arvin clone and find out that he and sloane have the same brain. mccullough, a guy who did psych projects/tests, apparently made another arvin sloane by uploading files/brain functions of the real arvin sloane. it's pretty crazy if you ask me, but really cool at the same time. they bring arvin clone out of his "sloane state" to find out his real name (ned) and find out where the rambaldi flower (orchid) is.
see, in the beginning, arvin clone went to a rambaldi monastery to retrieve this orchid. what this orchid does is take out the aggression in organisms, so they become better and nicer people. at the monastery, there were these killer bees with venomous poison stings, but the monks didn't need to work with special equipment; they could just be with the bees because the orchid helped take out the aggression in them (the flower's nectar). anyway, since arvin clone didn't get his way with the father (a very cool father), clone reversed the effect on the bees (with that floating red ball thing) and the bees killed everyone in the monastery. and then clone took the orchid.
the flower is important because the real sloane contaminated drinking water and... i think he mixed together all these chemicals to try and produce what the flower nectar would make? some 300 to 400 million would be affected. i kind of missed that part.
back to arvin clone and bringing him out of the "sloane state." in order to do that, they needed to shock him to a powerful memory. so the real sloane is put under hypnosis and relives the memory that is jacquelyn.
jacquelyn was his daughter. emily, his wife, was pregnant. it was a risky pregnancy since emily was older... jacquelyn died at birth.
i felt pretty sad, man. at first i went, "EMILY!" and remembered, hey, dixon shot her and she died. but EMILY! and pregnant! baby! jacquelyn! score! then, oh no! the baby died at birth. it was sad seeing emily curl up and cry... and then sloane, crying with her.
so they took the memory and uploaded it into arvin clone. we find out, yes, his name is ned, and where the flower is (a lab in switzerland, i believe). turns out ned kind of went... awry. the memory upload was a little overboard and he kept going in and out of the "sloane state." the looks on syd/jack's faces were priceless.
meanwhile, the real sloane wouldn't snap out the hypnosis. he found a happy place in his mind, where emily and jacquelyn were alive and well. but nadia brought him back to reality, without shocking him too much because if they did, sloane would've died of happiness. literally. poor sloane. i feel bad for him. he was good man, but after loving jacquelyn, he really went into rambaldi-- and from there, he lost himself. he became... a crazily obsessed man!
how come syd didn't go on the mission? (aside from the recent rumors that jgar is THREE MONTHS pregnant with baffleck's baby!) and what happened to the elena plot? she just... disappeared? when is sark coming back? vaughn was hot, again. i really like marshall's growing presence on the show. we love marshall, oh yes we do! OHHH, i think vaughn's proposing next episoooode. i hear a mention of irina? yes? and about the 2 hour episode next week: i think it's making up for that one week there wasn't an episode. hey, the more jj, the better.
LOST
HOLY. GOD. this show is way too good. i mean, WAY WAY too good. we find out about kate and the airplane and the man she killed. it's so heartbreaking. he was the love of her life and... it's terribly sad. she's always running, always.
walt is awesome! he just... knows. he knows about the hatch, he knows that they have the leave the island NOW. he's the freaky kid with magical powers!
aw, kate/sawyer! they're rough around each other, but they have their moments when they understand each other. ack, but sawyer kind of sold her out in front of everyone, making her confess that she was the one with the US marshall on the plane and that yes, she would be going to jail no matter what she did or did not do (but she's innocent! INNOCENT! she didn't kill him! it was all an accident!!). i think everyone's gonna be weird around her now because, hey she's the "criminal."
and sun, trying to make jin stay by poisoning his water (which, unfortunately, michael drinks causing all this hullabuloo to break out). she loves him, but he doesn't want anything to do with her.
crazy french woman comes back next week! run or die (and i think the third was fight?) i think everyone runs. "they" are coming to get them. "they." but THE HATCH, WHAT IS IN THE HATCH?!!
