4x20, 4x21: "The Descent", "Search and Rescue"
"The Descent": After learning the awful truth about Nadia's childhood caregiver, Sophia (Sonia Braga), APO races to track her down while an agent's life hangs in the balance. Meanwhile Sydney and Nadia question Sloane's trustworthiness now that his obsession with Rambaldi may have been renewed, Jack has an unsettling meeting with Katya Derevko (Isabella Rossellini), and Vaughn asks Jack a surprising and momentous question.
"Search and Rescue": Upon discovering that Irina Derevko (Lena Olin) is alive, Sydney, Jack and Nadia set out to find her in order to thwart Elena Derevko's (Sonia Braga) deadly Rambaldi endgame. Meanwhile, Dixon's condition takes a turn for the worse.
LENA OLIN IS BACK AND SHE'S PRETTY AND SHE'S AWESOME.

let's give it up for irina derevko, you guys.
sloane went all evil again (or is it a ploy?) and teamed up with elena. people in a russian town have gone crazy because the muhlenberg device (huge red ball) is driving them up the wall (remember the water contamination sloane did? remember the orchid, the rambaldi plant? it all adds up. hey, a connecting plotline). jack tells nadia the truth about irina (that he killed her, not that bishop). but HEY jack killed irina's double and the real irina is still alive! the double thing is from the helix project, back in the day with francie and will. francie --> evil!francie.
i liked how jj kind of poked fun of this wild idea. when vaughn said something like "we're looking for a woman who killed my father who was killed by your father, and saving the world from a giant red ball." syd replies, "things have been crazier." ha!
vaughn asked syd to marry him! i liked his failed attempts and weiss poking fun at him, teehee. ah, and marshall bursting in right at the moment. aw, at the beach in santa barbara! it's always santa barbara. but i think the best part of it all is when jack gave his blessing. and at the end, syd smiling at jack as he smiles back. a functioning and happy family for a moment? indeed.
many funny moments! (and my poor attempts at recreating them.)
marshall: hey don't feel so bad. i trusted sloane for 6 years before i found out he was evil...
nadia: (looks at him)
marshall: i mean, he isn't evil... per se...
syd: so who wants to be rough? me or you?
vaughn: you're always rough.
syd: no i'm not.
vaughn: (looks at her)
syd: am i? on ops or at home...
vaughn: (raises eyebrows)
syd: in both? (pause) no i'm not!... is this is on comms?
jack: (over radio) YES, THIS IS ON COMMS.
HEY. dixon and director chase! HA! "weekends aren't enough." wow, things are hot and heavy on that end.
syd: did you know about dixon and chase...?
jack: no. then again, i tend to disregard these things.
i liked the flashbacks, mainly the jack/irina one. the sloane/nadia was ehhh. i mean, now we know where they ran off to last season; it filled some holes. sloane is maniac! though, overly dramatic.
IRINA RULES. that's all that matters, kids.
wait. "Meanwhile, Dixon's condition takes a turn for the worse." did they reference back to him near the end? did i miss something? because i don't think they mentioned him again...
nadia goes crazy in the season finale next week! think 28 days later. red eyes, crazy look...
"Exodus, Part One"
man, this episode was amazing. the multiple flashbacks of every main character. sun and jin reconciled! but alas, he left on the raft with michael, walt, and sawyer. it was sad though, seeing sun/jin being so happy again but only to be torn apart. got a little teary eyed there. i mean, he says this is his punishment for being terrible towards her and now to make it up, he's going to sail out and save her. meanwhile rousseau, crazy french lady, reappears telling everyone that "the others" are coming to get them. the choices are run, hide, or die.
SAWYER'S REAL NAME IS JAMES FORD. what a stud, that guy. cuttin' that bamboo...
when sawyer told jack about his father... that was emotional. and everyone saying goodbye except kate and sawyer. how she was looking for him and at the end, he was looking for her... ahh. kate/sawyer! OTP!
so the others are coming to get them. last time they came, black smoke appeared 5 kilometers inland, signaling their arrival. they took rousseau's baby, and hey, claire just had her baby. jack, kate, locke, sayid, hurley, arzt (science teacher), and rousseau went to the "black rock" to get dynamite to blow up the mysterious hatch, seemingly the only shelter from the others (it has no handle! maybe it's not meant to be opened like sayid says! walt said not to open the hatch either! that kid had powers, man, powers!). the "black rock" turns out to be rousseau's ship, 16 years ago when she and her crew shipwrecked.
dude, 2 hour season finale next week. CAN YOU HANDLE IT? i hope i can. it'll be one major trip.
